WackyPod ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website, API, iOS app, Chrome Extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, name (optional), and an encrypted password. We never store passwords in plain text.

Content You Provide: When you create an episode, we process the text, URL, or uploaded file you provide. This content is used solely to generate your podcast and is not shared with third parties.

Usage Data: We collect basic usage metrics such as episode count, feature usage, and error logs to improve the service. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

Chrome Extension: The Chrome Extension only accesses webpage content when you explicitly click "Generate Podcast." It does not track your browsing activity, collect browsing history, or send data without your action.

iOS App: The iOS app supports on-device TTS and LLM processing. When using on-device features, your content never leaves your phone. Cloud-generated episodes follow the same policy as the web app.

2. How We Use Your Information

Service Delivery: Generate podcast episodes from your content
Account Management: Authenticate your identity, manage subscriptions
Service Improvement: Debug errors, improve TTS quality, optimize performance
Communication: Send billing receipts, password resets, and service announcements (you can opt out)

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with:

Stripe: Payment processing
Cloudflare R2: Audio file storage (encrypted at rest)
Modal: GPU-based TTS processing (content is processed and discarded, not stored)
Google Cloud: Fallback TTS only when primary engines are unavailable
Resend: Transactional email delivery

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on encrypted databases hosted by Neon (PostgreSQL). Audio files are stored on Cloudflare R2 with encryption at rest. We use JWT-based authentication with short-lived access tokens (15 minutes) and secure refresh tokens.

5. Data Retention

Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Episode audio: Retained while your account is active. You can delete individual episodes at any time.
Processing content: Source text/URLs are discarded after episode generation. We do not retain your input content long-term.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

You have the right to:

Access: Export all your data via your profile settings or the API (GET /api/user/export)
Rectification: Update your profile information at any time
Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
Portability: Download your episodes as MP3 files and export your data as JSON
Objection: Opt out of non-essential communications

7. Cookies

We use only essential cookies and localStorage for authentication tokens. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

WackyPod is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Chrome Extension Specific

The extension only activates when you click the WackyPod icon
Page content is sent to WackyPod servers only when you explicitly generate a podcast
Authentication tokens are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage
No browsing data, history, or activity is collected or transmitted
No remote code is loaded or executed

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
